“If we are to reach real peace in this world . . .We shall have to begin with the child.”
Homeless and impoverished orphans in India many (due to AIDS or disability) are in need of care and education.
When children lose their parents to an illness or when a parent can no longer take care of them, a relative generally takes in the child and cares for them. When a relative is unable to care for the child or no relative is able, they are forced to live on the streets. For that child, all hope is lost. Life is hard enough for a child in India, but with no one to care for them; they are the poorest of the poor.
Poverty in childhood is a root cause of poverty in adulthood. Impoverished children often grow up to be impoverished parents who in turn bring up their own children in poverty. In order to break the generational cycle, poverty reduction must begin with children.
NVIS International Ministries is trying to help break this poverty cycle by helping the Street Children of Nagaland, India. We can make the greatest impact on society operating a Children’s Home for these children and give them a New Start. With childhood being the foundation of the world’s future; as orphan’s lives are changed . . . so will it be with the generations that follow them.
India has little resources for welfare programs for orphans and these abandoned children Local churches and organizations attempt to help these children, however for the average person living on less than a dollar a day, they don’t have the resources to make a significant impact.
